About Us
Quercus Landscape and Garden Design is based at our plant nursery in West Sussex.
The design practice consists of Roger Smith and Chris Mennie ,with over 40years experience in garden design, combining professional backgrounds in both garden design and architecture.
Previous design awards include the British Association of Landscape Industries, Association of Professional Landscapers and medals at Hampton Court and Chelsea flower shows.
We have a wide experience in landscape design. Ranging from large country gardens, to small urban courtyards in both traditional and contemporary styles.
About Our philosophy
Listening to your requirements and desires we look to integrating the architecture of your property along side its outdoor spaces, while sympathetically blending it with the surrounding landscape.
Taking inspiration from both the design world and the natural landscape, we aim to provide a bespoke solution through the selection of appropriate materials and plants in a unique style.
About The Process
Initial Site Visit and Consultation
Every landscape transformation starts with a meeting between the designer and client to determine the scale of your project, analysis of existing site, client brief, budget and initial designers thoughts/ideas. From this initial meeting we hope to gain a good understanding of the clients requirements from which the design brief will be developed.
Concept Design Drawings
From the information gathered we would then draw up our initial proposals usually in the form of a master plan supported with 3d visuals to help convey the designs further. These would include all the major elements of the scheme including terraces, paths, retaining walls and level changes, areas of planting, main trees and any other structural features.
These drawings act as discussion documents where they would be presented to the client and discussed further.
Planting Plans and Plant Supply
At this stage planting plans can be drawn up showing species, numbers required and their position in the garden followed by the sourcing of plant material through our own nursery and if required, the setting out and planting of plants on site.
Quercus have links with a range of landscape construction professionals who can construct your new outdoor environment or we can work closely with your own chosen contactors to offer any technical advice they may require.
So please don’t hesitate to contact us to discuss your outdoor design requirements and begin your landscape transformation!
