Private Country Garden

A garden with a six metre rise from the back door of the house to the threshold of a new oak framed garden studio was the challenge of this garden.

Green oak sleepers, combined with sawn natural stone paving, were selected to complement the new studio and deal with the various levels.

The sleepers formed all the retaining walls and surround to the sawn stone main terrace, while also providing stepped

gravel pathway access. Four simple oak “frames” add vertical interested over the pathway as you approached the oak deck, in front of the garden studio.

Herbaceous perennials, combined with clipped Yew cubes and plants that can deal with a very sandy existing soil were chosen to provide year round colour and interest.
